INU was delighted to reconvene for the 40th INU Council Meeting, held in September and graciously hosted by Malmö University, Sweden. The city, transformed through the university’s dynamic role in fostering social inclusion and internationalisation, provided an inspiring backdrop for our gathering. The iconic Øresund Bridge also served as a fitting symbol of connection, reflecting our shared goal of bridging gaps and building stronger ties.
Council reviewed key initiatives, including the Staff Knowledge Exchange, the Researcher Mobility Program, and the International Student Seminar as well as focusing on strategic planning for the upcoming Leadership Summit.
Members enjoyed the rich culture and hospitality of Malmö — from sampling local culinary delights and exploring redeveloped industrial sites by boat, to an evening of boules that brought everyone together in good spirits!
A highlight of the meeting was the announcement of a renewed term for Stellenbosch University as the home of the INU Presidency. Council warmly thanked Prof. Sam Tshehla for Stellenbosch’s outstanding leadership during the first term, and we look forward to their continued guidance through to 2028.
INU extends heartfelt thanks to all members who travelled to Malmö — whether directly from EAIE or from further afield — and to our generous hosts at Malmö University. Special appreciation goes to Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mia Rönnmar and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Dr. Andreas Jacobsson for their warm welcome and invaluable support!
We look forward to the next INU Council Meeting in 2026!
