INU is delighted to announce that this year’s Henry Fong Award has been awarded to Yayano Okuda, a second-year student at Hiroshima University studying Liberal Arts. Many congratulations to Yayano!

Yayano would like to use the award of £1,700 to study Political Science for a semester at our INU member university in the USA, James Madison University.  In future, Yayano hopes to pursue her interests in international security, with a focus on nuclear strategy and non-proliferation.

Henry Fong Award Recipient 2024, Yayano Okuda

“I am deeply honoured to receive this prestigious award. The INU Seminar 2024 provided me with profound insights into empathy and cooperation, enriched my academic journey, and built life-long friendships. Winning this award is a testament to the personal growth I’ve achieved through connecting with such amazing people and engaging in the rich academic opportunities through INU.”

INU would like to thank all those who took the time to apply for the award.  We had some brilliant applications, encompassing the academic learnings, understanding of global citizenship and personal in-depth reflections from their experience at the INU’s Student Seminar for Global Citizenship and Peace.

We’re very proud of all our participants and all they achieved!
