For Students

Student Exchange

Background

In pioneering the establishment of the International Network of Universities ("INU"), many member Universities have enhanced the opportunities for students to add a genuinely international dimension to their studies by undertaking courses at one of the partner universities for accreditation towards their degrees at their home institution.

The INU is currently identifying and developing courses from each institution so that in the future it will be possible to enrol in subjects from within this portfolio and to complete them electronically without leaving your own campus. However, the alternative - and preferable - method of study is by travelling to a partner university to undertake subjects offered by that university in situ .

In order to launch this initiative, each member University of the INU has made a commitment to offer at least one targetted scholarship for students at second or third year level to undertake full-time study at selected universities within the Network.

Nature and Conditions of Scholarships

Under the terms of the INU Memorandum of Understanding, students enrolling in courses offered by partner universities do not pay tuition fees at the "host" university but are subject to the normal fees which would be incurred through enrolment at their home university.

The value of each scholarship will vary, depending on the country in which students undertake their courses, but will comprise a return economy airfare and travel insurance as well as providing generous assistance towards accommodation and living costs.

Each student who is successful in securing a scholarship will be required to undertake a full-time load at the selected partner university by enrolling in subjects which comprise a full-time load at that university. In special circumstances, if it is not possible to undertake a full load from amongst the "face to face" subjects available to INU students, a student's enrolment may be supplemented through enrolment in additional on-line subjects.

Potential applicants for the scholarships are expected to undertake independent research into subject options at their prospective host universities. They should look carefully at the institutions' websites in order to make an informed assessment of which programs would best complement the degree structure at their home university.

Member universities have assigned advisors to assist in the application process (many of these advisors will be based within the international offices of the member univerities) and potential applicants wishing to find out more about any scholarships available within their own university should first approach these advisors.

Recipients of INU scholarships are expected to undertake an informal ambassadorial role for their home instituion.
