INU Special Interest Group for Research Managers

The establishment of the group was one of the outcomes of the Research workshop hosted by Ritsumeikan University in October 2006.

The Special Interest Group for Research Managers was established by the INU Council on the recommendation of participants in the 2006 Research Workshop with the objective of focussing on specific, practical issues to assist with research collaboration.  Topics proposed for consideration by the Research Managers Special Interest Group include:

  • managing the responsible conduct of research
  • research ethics in an international context
  • international issues in the management of intellectual property
  • international challenges in the commercialisation of research
  • managing research collaboration across borders
  • metrics and international benchmarking of research
  • support mechanisms for international research students
  • on-line research management tools, eg. COS, InfoEd, ISI

The Research Steering Committee has endorsed a recommendation that a meeting of the Special Interest Group be convened in conjunction with the INORMS Conference to be held in Liverpool, UK in June 2008. A draft program for the workshop will be available shortly.
