INU Masters program in Global Citizenship

Following the very successful INU Student Seminar on Global Citizenship and Peace, hosted by Hiroshima University in August 2006, the idea to set up an INU Masters program on the same theme took shape. The idea was presented to the INU Council at its meeting in November who decided that all member universities should be invited to participate in the development of an INU Masters program on Global Citizenship.

So far, the following INU member universities have signed up to be part of the development project: University of Leicester, La Trobe University, Flinders University, Malmo University and Hiroshima University.

Each participating INU member university who accepts to be part of the development project will appoint an academic for each stream (Peace / International Relations etc) to be part of the Project Development Committee. The Committee will be responsible for looking at different ways of structuring the program taking into consideration the different strengths and possible national legislative restrictions of the participating universities. The Committee is to develop a program which allows students to spend two or three semesters at different INU universities, depending on the length of the program.

The proposed Masters program will also be used in a case study exercise during the Learning and Teaching conference hosted by La Trobe in late April.
