Learning and Teaching miniconference

An INU mini conference for INU members working with Learning and Teaching, University Libraries and IT services, will be hosted by La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia during April 26-27, 2007. All member universities will be invited at a later date but please mark the dates in the calendar already now. The conference is organized in connection with the EDUCAUSE Australasia conference in Melbourne during April 29-May 2, 2007,for more information on EDUCAUSE please refer to their website at: www.caudit.edu.au/educauseaustralasia07

The Student seminar on Global Citizenship in Hiroshima, 4-9 August 2006

Student seminar group 2006 A new website, within the INU site, has been set up for the Student Seminar. This site contains details of the seminar program, information on the seminar coordinators and short presentations from the international student participants about their thoughts on the seminar and their expectations for the event. Shadowing program for INU administrative staff

Most of the Administrative staff who expressed interest in participating in the Staff Shadowing Program have now been placed with their host Institutions. Interview with the Winner of the Henry Fong Award for Global Citizenship

The INU Project Manager, Gunilla Carlecrantz interviewed the first academic staff winner of the Henry Fong Award for Global Citizenship, Dr Hans Westerbeek. Dr Westerbeek will formally receive his Award at a ceremony to be held during the INU Council meeting in November, at La Trobe University in Melbourne. Interview with Dr Westerbeek.

INU Special Interest Group for University Libraries

The Library SIG held their inaugural meeting on April 26 in Malmo, Sweden. A report on the SIG is now available on the INU Website. Read more..

Special interest group for International Programs Offices

At the meeting in Budapest in April, the INU Executive supported the proposal to set up an INU Special Interest Group (SIG) for International Program Offices in the network. The SIG will set its own agenda and work independently in the Network. An inaugural meeting and benchmarking activities for International Programs Managers is planned in connection with the INU Council meeting in Melbourne in November, to be hosted by La Trobe University. All INU member universities will be invited to sign up for the group. For more information or to express your interest in participating, please contact the INU Project Manager, Gunilla Carlecrantz.

Research workshop

The INU Research work shop will be hosted by Ritsumeikan University, Japan from October 10--13, 2006. Please note that the dates have been changed and spread the word to colleagues concerned. The INU secretariat is now processing the "Questionnaire on research strengths and emerging areas of research focus" which was distributed to all INU members. The Questionnaire will form grounds for discussions during the workshop. In connection with the work shop, Hiroshima University welcomes INU members to visit on October 16. A separate invitation to the Research work shop and visiting Hiroshima University will be sent out by the INU Secretariat at the end of July. La Trobe University hosts a Morning Tea for INU Scholarship Winners

Acting Vice-Chancellor Denise Kirkpatrick hosted a morning tea on 28th June 2006 for La Trobe University undergraduate students who have been awarded scholarships to undertake studies at INU partner institutions in Semester 2 of this year. Read more..
