The 2007 Henry Fong awards for contributing to Global Citizenship
Applications for the 2007 Henry Fong Award for contributions to Global Citizenship were open to students who participated in the INU Student Seminar on Global Citizenship and Peace in Hiroshima, in August 2007.
Through a generous donation by Dr Henry Fong, the INU network will in 2007 reward a student from among its full member universities who has contributed to the concept of Global Citizenship. The Award is comprised of a scholarship to study or do research at a partner INU university on the theme of Global Citizenship together with at stipend to support travel costs and living expenses.
The INU has endorsed the theme of Global Citizenship as a common element across the teaching and research of its member universities. The theme can be broadly conceived as 'international relations' or 'development studies' and as studies in 'human rights' or 'ethnicity/migration' depending upon the terminology of the providing university within the INU. The glue is an adherence to the concept of students being educated to act and to think globally irrespective of their discipline of study, and be given the tools to play an active role in creating and maintaining a more humane and sustainable world.
