Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) is a South African tertiary education institution with its main administration in the coastal city of Port Elizabeth. A merging of three institutions founded NMMU in January 2005 but its history dates back to 1882 with the foundation of Port Elizabeth Art School. The University draws international students from all over the world. There are over 3000 international students and include students from the United States, France, China, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, United Kingdom and many other countries.[citation needed]
NMMU is a comprehensive university offering professional and vocational training. The University has six campuses – five in Port Elizabeth and one in George. The main campus is the South Campus. Students at NMMU can study towards diplomas and degrees up to and including doctoral level qualifications. A number of courses include workplace experience as part of the curriculum.

We would like to invite staff from INU institutions to our International Staff Training Week in the end of May. INU colleagues may participate as part of the INU Staff Shadowing Programme, and Malmö University will cover the cost of accommodation for 6 nights. This is the second time we host a Staff Training Week, last year both participants and organizers were very pleased with the outcome. The programme consist of both workshops and presentations.

2013 will mark the 15th anniversary of the network. In the 15 years of its existence the consortium has encountered many challenges, including undergoing three rotations of presidency, maintaining communication and logistical support for an organization that spans five time zones and a natural fluctuation of members and commitment. However, the group has endured and has only grown stronger over the past years with personal friendships and ever-new collaborations among each other.

In 2013, the INU will continue to build on its staff shadowing. In addition to the three existing summer courses – for Global Citizenship and Peace and Environmental Sustainability – the INU will add a new student program for undergraduate and graduate nursing students from across the network this summer. In our previous INU council Meeting we have also developed a project proposal for “Applying Global Citizenship in International Higher Education”. These are just a few of the activities that lie ahead of us next year…

It is a five-day program that consists of workshops, networking opportunities, presentations and social events. The aim is to give both – visiting participants and staff from Malmö university -the chance to mutually benefit from this week’s experience.
The theme for the Staff Training Week is Service Package for (International) Students.

Cost
Malmö University does not charge any participation fee, but visitors will cover their own expenses for accommodation. Some meals are included in the program.

Particpants from INU – International Network of Universities can apply for INU Staff Shadowing Programme. The number of INU participants is limited to 5. For INU participants Malmö University will cover costs for accommodation, as stipulated in the INU Staff Shadowing Programme.

Dr. Ida Susanti (UNPAR, Indonesia), Professor Hajime Nishitani (Hiroshima University, Japan), and Mr. Felix Wang (JMU, US) will present a session titled “Cooperation for Competition – Why joining international networks make sense” in the conference strand of partnerships and cooperations.

APAIE is similar to EAIE in Europe or NAFSA in North America, concentrating on its Asian Pacific Members. Around 1000 participants are expected to attend the 2013 edition of the APAIE conference.

The Ministry of Education and Culture, Republic of Indonesia in the academic year 2013/2014 offers a scholarship of Darmasiswa Programme to foreign students to study in Indonesia for 6 months and 1 year (Regular 1 year and Regular 6 months).

Practical Information
International students will be provided with an accommodation (hotel) throughout the duration of the program. Most meals and transportation from and to the airport as well as between the hotel and the campus will be provided. International students would need to find their own funding for airfare and other living costs (some universities may be willing to sponsor your trip – get in touch with your international office)
